Building from the national understanding of student success and the enablers of student success, Embedding Student Success: A Guiding Framework was published in 2021. The framework identifies three key pillars for student success: enabling institutional capabilities, enabling institutional culture, and enabling institutional practices. Each pillar is described using key enablers.

The Seven Cs Toolkit builds on this framework by providing additional detail on how each enabler could be interpreted (statements). It provides a process for institutions to ensure that the range of perspectives across the staff and student population are considered (lenses). It includes resources for identifying agreed starting points for development (rubrics).
